The Delaware Interfaith Council doesn’t just facilitate partnerships — it supports real action and measurable outcomes. The list of accomplishments and stories illustrate how the Council’s mission comes to life—through action, partnerships, and results.
- Service Days in State Parks
Working with Delaware State Parks and Mormon Helping Hands, the Council supported Saturday in the Park: A Day of Service, where volunteers beautified parks and improved public spaces. - “Lunch and Learn” Events
The Council hosts informal “Lunch and Learn” gatherings where faith leaders connect with State agencies to discuss vital social services and community needs, strengthening coordination and knowledge-sharing. Featured topics have included home ownership programs and foreclosure prevention, I-ADAPT (an individualized re-entry program for Delaware inmates), incarceration and recidivism, and emergency preparedness and response for faith communities. - Faith, Family and Foster Care Initiative
The Council actively supported Lt. Governor Matt Denn’s initiative to engage the faith community in supporting foster care - Faith Community Emergency Preparedness Survey
In cooperation with the Division of Public Health and the University of Delaware’s Center for Community Research and Service, the Council helped create a database of Delaware faith-based institutions. This database was used to survey faith leaders on the state’s public health emergency preparedness. - Nemours Community Transformation Grant
The Council provided strategic direction for a $20,000 grant aimed at connecting faith communities and public schools to educate children on healthy food choices. - Emergency Preparedness Partnership
The Council partnered with the Delaware Emergency Management Agency to promote readiness and resilience among congregations across the state. - Workshop for Faith Leaders
The Council hosted a statewide emergency preparedness workshop attended by more than 40 faith leaders. Governor Jack Markell and Rev. David L. Myers, Senior Advisor to the FEMA Administrator, addressed participants. The event was featured in the Governor’s weekly video message.
